San José / Central Valley — Escazú, Santa Ana, San José, Heredia

Sloped lots, narrow streets: excavation by people who know the Central Valley

Almost no lot in the Central Valley is flat, and almost no street lets big machinery through without maneuvering. We connect you with earthmoving contractors who've already worked in Escazú, Santa Ana and Heredia, with the right-sized equipment.

If you bought a lot in Escazú or Santa Ana to build, you've probably noticed two things: the slope, and the street. A contractor unfamiliar with the area may show up with an excavator too big for the access road, damage the sidewalk, or leave dirt piled where neighbors need to pass, and you're the one who hears about it from the HOA. The contractors we connect you with already work on urban lots: they check access before quoting, schedule hauling so the neighborhood isn't blocked, and know which municipal permits apply before any dirt moves. You get a clear scope and a fixed price in writing, in English if you need it.

What's included

  • Site visit and equipment access check
  • Excavation with backhoe or excavator depending on the lot
  • Grading and layered compaction
  • Cut and fill (terracing on sloped lots)
  • Trenching for pipes, drainage and wiring
  • Hauling of soil and debris

Why Apex instead of a random contractor?

Backhoe or mini excavator based on access, not machinery that won't fit your street.

Fixed price, no surprises

A clear quote before work starts. Requesting a connection costs you nothing.

They know the municipal process

They know when earthwork needs a municipal or CFIA permit before starting.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a permit to move soil on my lot?

It depends on the volume and the canton. Large cuts or slope work usually need a municipal permit; your contractor tells you what applies before starting.

Is it billed by machine hour or by project?

Both exist. For defined projects we ask for a fixed-price quote, so you know the total cost up front.

What happens to the excess soil?

Hauling can be included in the quote. If the soil works as fill elsewhere on the lot, it's reused and the cost drops.
